I’ve spent thirty years training legal professionals in more than fifty countries. Boardrooms, law firms, government offices, kitchen tables over bad coffee. One lesson keeps showing up everywhere: precision is everything.
A contract is not paperwork. It’s a conversation frozen in words — and every word will be tested the day something goes wrong. “Best efforts.” “Reasonable time.” “Material.” These little words look harmless on page twelve. In a dispute, they’re the whole fight.
I train professionals to read what’s actually there, not what they assume is there. Most people read a contract the way they read a menu — scanning for what they want. I teach them to read it the way the other side’s lawyer will read it later: hunting for the gap.
That’s why I wrote Million Dollar Words — real cases where a single word cost millions. Not theory. Wreckage.

Thirty years in, my conviction is simple: legal English isn’t a language course. It’s a business skill. It’s the difference between signing a deal and signing away your leverage.
I’m Dena Falken. This is what I train. More at denafalken.com.
