There is a photograph from the end of a seminar: a big framed certificate held up for the room, participants applauding, and Dena Falken with the pages in her hand. Every Legal-Ease International training ends the same way — not with a goodbye, but with a document. The last page of the seminar is the one they sign.
A certificate is a small contract with the truth. The name on it has to be spelled exactly right. The words on it state what was studied, for how many hours, and under whose standard — and a signature at the bottom turns those words into a commitment. That is why the closing language of documents matters so much in her training: executed does not mean finished, it means signed and made binding. In witness whereof is the sentence that says: we were here, we did this, and we stand behind it.
The professionals in her rooms understand this instinctively, because their working lives run on signed pages. A name misspelled on a certificate is a small thing — until it is your name. A date wrong on a closing document is a small thing — until millions turn on it. Precision is not a style in cross-border work. It is the difference between a document that protects and a document that fails.
That is the standard Dena Falken has trained to for three decades, in seminar rooms across the world: read every word, sign nothing you have not read, and let the last page carry the same care as the first. The applause in that photograph is for the participants. The certificate is for the record.
Her two books carry the same standard. Million Dollar Words: When One Word Costs Millions gathers the cases where a single word changed the outcome. The Global Legal English Masterclass: Essential Terminology for Cross-Border Documents is the complete training reference for professionals who work in English across borders. Dedicated to her mother, Laurel Ruth Falken, who loved words — she taught English — and to her father, Steven N Falken, who loved entrepreneurship, and who told her, when she began her seminars: “You’ll be an entrepreneur.”
